The gallery Fernández-Braso is pleased to present the first exhibition of the artist Cristina Almodovar (Madrid, 1970). The shows will be part of Opening 2023

Under the title of Full and empty the works of Almodóvar will be distributed for the various spaces of the gallery, focusing on the importance that the artist gives to the (inter) relationship and a dialogue between the art object and the place it occupies. The gallery will become, in this way, in the territory, in a fertile land, in the stronghold of remains and traces, in the space that opens up to the empty, and it becomes a screen for the projection of shadows. The sculptures, synthesis and abstraction of forms that refer to a world that is organic, natural, vegetal, mineral - is shown in its dual nature, material and immaterial, delicate and robust, beautiful, and tragic, object and idea. Almodóvar is present in each of the works. His humanity. His body and his hands working the iron. The artistic object, material and corporeal, it refers to the basic fundamentals of art. To the artist creator, metamorphosed in sculpture, generating, in turn, by the poetic language, of phenomena, concerns, ideas, and fears are proper to human nature.

Fernando Castro Flórez, art critic, philosopher and professor of aesthetics at the Autonomous University of Madrid, write the text about the artist that will be included in the catalogue of the exhibition of the gallery Fernández-Braso has been edited as a complement of the sample.

CRISTINA ALMODOVAR (Madrid, 1970), is a Graduate in Fine Arts with a specialty in sculpture. Based on the work of iron, he has been making a constant technical research, multidisciplinary, combining images of inspiration natural to rational concepts, through the visual languages that about his work in the language of poetry. This proximity has led in recent years to perform multiple publications joining their works of poets and writers, and to create the book-object that gives the image to the newly created International Poetry Prize Joan Margarit, in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute and the editorial Bed Sun, recently delivered in New York, california, Sharon Olds, Pulitzer prize for poetry.
