Soledad Sevilla y Nuria Vidal

Landscape, thinking, painting

LANDSCAPE, THINKING, PAINTING

SOLEDAD SEVILLA / NURIA VIDAL

The art gallery Fernández-Braso de Madrid brings together for the first time, under the title of “Landscape, thinking, painting”, the artists Spanish Soledad Sevilla Valencia (1944) and Nuria Vidal (Madrid, 1967).

Coinciding in the interest of both artists, by that which flows together and is generated between the painting and to the forms and elements of nature and the landscape, the exhibition shows and highlights two forms of aesthetic expression, values and associations as much subjective as objective. Memory, experience, perception,..., identity, territory, time, existence.... This confluence arise works of appearance abstractly defined and formalized by different processes of performing that evoke, in addition, realities, environments, and different peculiarities of the two artists invited to participate.

NURIA VIDAL

He was born in Madrid and is licensed in Fine Arts by the University Complutense of Madrid the specialty engraving.

In its years of formation obtained a series of Grants that will enhance your research artistic in the painting and the engraving.

In the year 1991, he travels to Leeds with an Erasmus Grant from the European Union to the Centre for the Arts and Contemporary Studies at the Metropolitan University in Leeds, Great Britain. During these years of formationNuria begins to develop a work staff at the work graph that shows part in fairs and competitions. In 1996 receives the reference to a new artist of the National Prize of Intaglio with the work Castles in the air. It is then that stands out in his work as a recorder immersing himself in the world of color and print within the graph and of the work in paper.

In the year 2000 receives the scholarship of the Real Academy of Spain in Rome. Dedicated with the same intensity to the painting and the engraving, Nuria Vidal performs a series of projects in about theme of the geometry and the color inspired in the city Rome.

He travels to Paris in 2003, as a fellow resident of the college of Spain in Paris. In his study of the Cité des Arts devoted his paintings to the levity; in this period he made a series of works on canvas, barely perceptible nuances and suavidades, which reflect the light and the mists of the city Paris.

The years of searching deep in his artistic work have given his work a amazing quality plastic, in which the lyrical abstraction leads us to the mysterious thresholds of color, transparency and light.
