The art gallery Fernández-Braso inaugurates an exhibition collective formed by artists who exhibit regularly in the gallery next to other historic linked to the avant-garde, classical, and for those who also feel a close affinity aesthetic and conceptual. Also, we want this exhibition is a tribute to the poet José-Miguel Ullán (Salamanca, 1944-Madrid, 2009), a friend and collaborator of the founder of this gallery, Miguel Fernández-Braso, from the youth of both until the last days of the poet.
José-Miguel Ullán, “one of the voices most personal and challenging”, in the words of Octavio Paz, was intimate and poetically linked to the different artistic manifestations from the mid-60s. Thanks to his radical, deep and visceral poetic language he was able to talk to you to you to the artists who renewed the artistic scene of the time, so Chillida, Sempere, Palazuelo or Tápies; and subsequently continued with the generation of the 80s: Barceló, Sicily, Broto or Zush.
His poems were published alongside works of art in editions of sub-released in museums such as the MoMA in New York, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid or the Biblothèque Nationale de France in Paris. In addition he was a prolific curator of exhibitions and an accomplished draftsman. Their "Agrafismos" is exposed in the 49 Venice Biennale in 2001 and La Casa Encendida of Madrid in 2012. Also highlighted in his work as a journalist, collaborating with the main media of Spain and France. In the 70 years he was deputy director of the magazine of fine arts Guadalimar and co-director of Notebooks Guadalimar, as well as a collaborator of Editions Hopscotch, all founded by Miguel Fernández-Braso.
The names and stains, writings on art is the title of a book, a posthumous work of José-Miguel Ullán published by Gutenberg Galaxy in 2015. Contains a selection of prose texts that the poet wrote throughout her life on a series of artists spaniards and mexicans, as Frida Kahlo, Broto, Tàpies, Vicente Rojo, Saura and Xavier Valls, among others. Some of these artists will be present at this exhibition, as well as many others that can surely also be looking to Ullán, who unfortunately was not able to learn the new art gallery Fernández-Braso. Serve this exhibition in the gallery to remember your person, you can visit his partner Manuel Ferro and the family Ullán, for whom we feel love very much.
