Carmen Calvo

The feast of the spider

In praise of intelligence added, Carmen Calvo part of an initial impulse, of a vision of a powerful, strong, and permanent, what we would call a vision ‘intense,’ proposing the unavoidable necessity of its realization. For Calvo create is to transmit impulses that seem to be located in a place of his own, unraveling an object, before a passive receiver of the look, now introspective look that underlines the perception lacanian: in all past, there is a part that is standing water. Miracle of life, but to live, it is well-known is an abyss, and it is at this point, the reference dark, the mentioned ability to extract beauty of the guesswork, and allows us to remember that the work of Calvo are generating unease -and questions-high mission -this interrogation - art. Baroque exercises of the concern, aesthetic discouragement, chaired always a cheeky horror vacuithe celebration of the baroque style, the ceremonial meeting of objects, usually with a strong symbolic content and mention, therefore, immediately empty. Implementation of the boundary reminding us how the art of our time can be a model of boldness: what daredevil is beautiful, seems to subscribe Calvo. A fear, that of the artist, touching on almost sacral. The sacred has not disappeared from the art, it has become unrecognizable, camouflaged in forms, intentions and meanings. The sacred survives buried in your unconscious, it is “religious” in the sense that it is constituted by impulses and figures full of sacredness. Creating, collecting objects, using them as elements to compose his paintings, in front of such a herculean effort for filling of things our existence, Calvo seems to conjure the presence of the darkness mentioning, however, with such a motley proceed in the extreme, the existence powerful that nothing with us.
