Exposure
January 25, / 27 march 2024
Third solo exhibition dedicated to Rosa Brun in the gallery Fernández-Braso. This sample is meant to celebrate the recent entry of the artist at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando; and it does so through a selection of works made in the last fifteen years. Dedicated to Rosa Brun a first public recognition in the previous edition of ARCOmadrid, showing his work alongside that of Carmen Laffón, the extraordinary artist, seville, who inherited the square of the academy. Serve this exhibition to celebrate and to remember, to highlight and to honor; and to underline the importance of the relay and the incorporation of women in the cultural institution in the Rosa Brun will read his speech input over the next few months of this year 2024.
With the occasion of this exhibition, Juan Fernando de Laiglesia, professor emeritus of Fine Arts, has written a text very original, scholarly and brilliant about the artist, Whistling in the snow with Rose-Brun, writing to be included in the printed catalog and digital) that will accompany the sample. “That is why it is good to remember that mount an exhibition like the one we now see in the gallery Fernández-Braso, there is sort of a showcase but to convey how the works are populating the awareness. And I must say that this is possible because each work is a part of a great waterfall, like each syllable blown is only important for the word in the works”.
The work of Rosa Brun reaffirms its commitment to a language experimental and radically abstract, in an exercise in construction and deconstruction of the language of art and of its procedures. Although his work may refer to a nature or cosmos transcendent, all of his work is real and definable: the color, matter, volume, space, light and shadow. The object created, a hybrid between a painting and a sculpture, it generates multiple points of view and readings that, in turn, account for movement, analysis and contemplation in the viewer.
Rosa Brun is a graduate in Fine Arts by the Complutense University of Madrid and a Doctorate in Fine Arts by the University of Granada. Has held exhibitions at the la Caixa Foundation, Girona; the Palace of the Condes de Gabia, Granada, Koldo Mitxelena Kulturunea, San Sebastian; Centro de Arte Contemporáneo, Málaga, spain; Museo Patio Herreriano, Valladolid; CEART, Fuenlabrada, Madrid; The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University, Miami; New York Public Library, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA), Buenos Aires; Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow, MMOMA, Moscow.
The exhibition opens Thursday, January 25, between 19 and 21 hours.
