Antoni T\u00e0pies (Barcelona, 13 de diciembre de 1923-6 de febrero de 2012), fue un pintor, escultor y te\u00f3rico del arte espa\u00f1ol. Uno de los principales exponentes a nivel mundial del informalismo, est\u00e1 considerado como uno de los m\u00e1s destacados artistas espa\u00f1oles del siglo XX. La obra del artista catal\u00e1n goza de un centro de estudio y conservaci\u00f3n en la Fundaci\u00f3n Antoni T\u00e0pies de Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n
Of self-training, T\u00e0pies has created his own style within the avant-garde art of the TWENTIETH century, in which were combined tradition and innovation in an abstract style, but full of symbolism, giving great importance to the substrate material of the work. It is worth noting the marked spiritual sense given by the artist to his work, where the support material transcends its state to signify a profound analysis of the human condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The work of antoni T\u00e0pies has been given a great evaluation to the national and international levels, being exposed in the most prestigious museums in the world. Throughout his career he has received numerous awards and distinctions, among which it is worth highlighting the Wolf Foundation Prize in the Arts (1981), the Gold Medal of the Generalitat of Catalonia (1983), the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts (1990), the Picasso Medal from Unesco (1993) and the Premio Vel\u00e1zquez de Artes Pl\u00e1sticas (2003). As recognition of his artistic career, the king Juan Carlos I granted the title of marqu\u00e9s de T\u00e0pies, April 9, 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n
