Moments of color<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Albert R\u00e0fols-Casamada (Barcelona, 1923-2009), pintor y poeta, es Premio Nacional de Artes Pl\u00e1sticas en 1980, cl\u00e1sico de la vanguardia pict\u00f3rica y figura clave en el panorama art\u00edstico catal\u00e1n de la segunda mitad del siglo XX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you spend two exhibitions, in 2012 and 2016, this third focus of interest in the show and to highlight the latest work by the artist, which took place in the last period of his life, between 2002 and 2007, after the important exhibitions dedicated to him the MACBA and the IVAM in 2001. For the occasion we have counted with the collaboration of an art critic and historian Jos\u00e9 Francisco Yvars, author of the book \u201cVision and sign. The painting of R\u00e0fols-Casamada (Pol\u00edgrafa, 2006)\u201d and the author of a new text about the artist and their work which will be included in the catalog of this exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class='yrm-content yrm-content-1 yrm-content-hide' id='yrm-OvpR2' data-id='1' data-show-status='false' data-after-action='' style=\"visibility: hidden;height: 0;\">\n\t\t\t<div id='yrm-inner-content-yrm-OvpR2' class='yrm-inner-content-wrapper yrm-cntent-1'><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The last work of R\u00e0fols-Casamada \u2212purified, synthetic, and lyrical, while lush\u2212 display confronted with a small but important group of paintings from the period of greater recognition, the 80&#039;s and 90&#039;s, which will allow to estimate and assess the development and the evolution of the artist. \u201cA greater sense of depth, a presence sometimes more clear of objects, a few strokes more tactile, ample and fast\u201d that commented Victoria Combal\u00eda in 1985 to \u201cthe serene abstraction chromatic last, now look\u201d, in the words of J. F Yvars, who quotes Virginia Woolf and his \u201ceffective simplicity\u201d in the statement that \u201curged\u201d the author, a \u201cpunctilious\u201d Roger Fry, artist and critic british member of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Grupo_de_Bloomsbury\">Bloomsbury group<\/a>: \u201cWhat can you not say in four-color?\u201d. Perhaps we can answer with a quote from the own R\u00e1fols when asked what is the topic: \u201cafter reflecting often on this, I believe, at least for the painter, the subject is always the painting itself\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first solo exhibition of the artist was in Barcelona in 1947, as well as his first major retrospective, who was at the Mir\u00f3 Foundation, in 1985. This exhibition travelled to Madrid (Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art), and Palma (Palau Sollerich). In the 2001 Barcelona also dedicated to him his last major exhibition: Albert R\u00e0fols-Casamada 1953-2001. The exhibition was shown at the Valencian Institute of Contemporary Art (IVAM). In 2003, the Reina Sofia Museum opened in Silos, an exhibition dedicated to R\u00e0fols-Casamada. In 2006, the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute in New York city dedicated to him his first major exhibition, curated by J. F. Yvars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His works are in museums and collections such as the Guggenheim in New York and Bilbao, the British Museum and the Tate Gallery, the MoMA, the Centre Pompidou, the MUSEUM, IVAM and the Reina Sofia.<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><div class='yrm-btn-wrapper yrm-inline-wrapper yrm-btn-wrapper-1  yrm-more-button-wrapper'><span title='Read +' data-less-title='Leer -' data-more-title='Leer +'  class='yrm-toggle-expand  yrm-toggle-expand-1' data-rel='yrm-OvpR2' data-more='Leer+' data-less='Leer -' style='border: none; width: 100%;'><span class=\"yrm-button-text-1 yrm-button-text-span\">Read+<\/span><\/span><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>R\u00e0fols-Casamada.
