Arturo Berned

 Arturo Berned (Madrid, 1966), sculptor of reference in the area of geometric art, creator of works suggestive, expressive, physically strong and materially delicate and exquisite. Their formal proposals -contained a few times, overwhelmed other-coupled with the light and shadows that create the works on your relationship with the space, aspire to transcend the look and the perception of the viewer to connect with the ideas, sensations and feelings associated to concepts related to the universe, the human being and the History and the language of art.

Alfonso de la Torre, curator and theoretician of art, and author of the introductory text of the catalogue that the gallery has published on the occasion of the exhibition, points out that "the creation of Berned is a journey of forms, but it is also towards the knowledge through the questions, becoming his sculptural work to another write to decipher, a device mean, just now the birth and the conclusion of the arts in this Octavio Paz called an area invisible".

    Arturo Berned Madrid, Spain, 1966) is an architect, and sculptor whose work is based
    in the reinterpretation of the forms and space through a geometric language.
    The mathematics, the euclidean space, the paths regulators, the golden ratio are
    tools of common use in her work; uses geometry as a tool
    basic to understand the world around us, the physical world and the senses
    The steel, the material which produces the majority of his sculptures, allow you to create
    a universe formal very personal.
    Balance, light, mass, vacuum, touch, dialogue, tension, ... are the tools and arguments
    of their work.
    Understand and use the sculpture as a organizing element of the space, facilitating their
    understanding; the scale, the size, the layout, the way, ... it helps to create a
    complicity between architecture and sculpture.
    Degree in Architecture in 1993 by the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Madrid, with an extensive experience as an architect in Spain, United Kingdom, Italy and Mexico, until his last stage as the Director of Projects and Works of Estudio Lamela in Madrid, he is from 2000, when he finally and exclusively by his activity as a sculptor.
    Throughout these years, it has developed a large corpus of works in large format
    this being one of the hallmarks of his artistic proposal; sculptures
    integrated in urban spaces or buildings creating a dialogue with the city, the
    architecture and sculpture.
    Some of their interventions more noticeable are the first prize in the contest
    international “Door Sculpture Loewe in Madrid in 2000, or exposure in the
    Museum, IVAM in Valencia during 2012, which hosted more than 50 sculptures
    different formats.
    In 2013 he was chosen as the first Spanish artist to give his version of the bag
    “Lady Dior” in the exhibition “Lady Dior As Seen By” presented at Hong Kong; little
    then in 2014, he was selected to represent Spain in the Dual Year
    Spain-Japan in Tokyo and Fukuoka, and it is worth mentioning his recent intervention in the
    Ritz Carlton Hotel Los Cabos, Baja California.
    He has participated in many fairs such as ARCO in Madrid and Lisbon, ARTBO in
    Bogotá, ARTBASEL Hong Kong, ART MIAMI in Miami, among others, and installed
    many works in different countries like Spain, Usa, Mexico, Japan,
    China,...
    Currently, his work is represented by Leon Tovar Gallery in New York and the
    Gallery Fernández-Braso de Madrid.
